Optical Bench Test
At FLO we check all SharpStar refractor telescopes on our optical bench before dispatch.
This ensures you can be confident your telescope will, from the outset, have well-figured optics, negligible false colour and spherical aberration, and no astigmatism (the bane of any optical system!). Star shapes will be round, not triangular, oval or egg-shaped!
SharpStar 94EDPH f/5.5 Triplet ED APO Telescope
The SharpStar 94EDPH scope features a 94mm air-spaced triplet objective with two ED glass elements for excellent colour correction, contrast, and image sharpness.
With a native focal ratio of f/5.5, the scope measures just 468mm in length with its dew shield retracted and weighs just 4.4 kg making it an ideal choice for those requiring a decent portable medium aperture Astrograph.
With a standard focal length of 517mm, the 94EDPH can be used with the SharpStar 2.5" Flattener to deliver tack-sharp stars across a 4.0 degree X 2.6 degree field with a full-frame camera. It’s also an excellent fast-focal-ratio telescope for visual observation.
The optional dedicated 2.5" Reducer/Flattener is also available and delivers a blazingly fast F4.4 focal ratio with sharp stars across the whole field of a full format camera.
The high quality optics are matched by the excellent mechanics and high quality cosmetic fit and finish. The red CNC trim and carrying handle together with the white gloss tube provide this scope with a distinctive and attractive look. The 94EDPH features a premium 3” dual-speed 10:1 rack-and-pinion focuser with 58mm of travel that handles most full-frame astronomy cameras. Also included is a 1.25”-2” adapter for use with smaller accessories.
