Ursa Major FMC Flatfield Eyepiece 19mm
An excellent alternative to regular Plossl or Orthoscopic eyepieces.
Ursa Major FMC Flatfield eyepieces have a five to six-element optical design that provides surprisingly high performance, generous eye relief and a wide apparent field of view from 60 to 65 degrees, depending on the focal length.
Their Flatfield design with fully multicoated, edge-blackened optics reduces field curvature and enhances brightness and contrast.
The black-anodised 1.25" nosepiece has a safety taper (for a secure fit in the focuser) and is threaded to accept 1.25" astronomy filters.
Each Ursa Major FMC Flatfield eyepiece is beautifully finished with a tactile grip and a fold-down rubber eye cup for comfortable viewing.
Supplied with a lens cleaning cloth and an eyepiece bag.

The views are way above my expectations 05 September 2024 | Peter
Telescope Sky-Watcher Star Travel 120 (f/5) Refractor Telescope with added William Optics Erecting Prism and Baader Semi Apo Filter, which helps bring out the best this telescope can give. The telescope came with two Bundled useful achromatic eyepieces and then added some improved Stock SP Plossl eyepieces. This kept me busy for 18 months and I then decided to complete a full Ocular Step-Up replacement for better mid-range eyepieces using BST StarGuider, Nirvana-ES UWA, Sky-Watcher Planetary and keeping the Plossl 32mm which is a very nice eyepiece.
After which left a small gap in the 30x power range, so I decided to try the Ursa Major Eyepiece 19mm giving power 32x and AFOV 65 degs. And I am glad that I did, since the views here are way above my expectations. Picked on Cygnus for testing, the star Deneb was a sharp point in the middle along with other stars practically out to the edge of field, giving that the telescope is an f/5. Albireo double star colour contrast was superb and M29 star cluster though being small was bright and well defined. Finally, the Moon had risen in third quarter, and presented a razor-sharp image, displaying what I call pop-up mountain ranges. Found Hipparchus crater, though big can be more difficult to identify, (the pronounced crater Horrocks on its floor helps) since it is very old and eroded down.
With hindsight, if the Ursa Major eyepieces were available, I would have skipped the SP Plossl’s route at the beginning and moved directly to these better specification eyepieces. The Ursa Major is exceedingly good for the price and worth giving a try, especially if you want to step-up from the original bundled eyepieces at not too much cost. With good AFOV, long eye relief and large eye ocular specification makes for comfortable rewarding views.

Unpacking and wow ! Lovely deep coatings .
Gives x63 in a 1200mm frac . Useful magnification. Gave complete clear view of the double cluster , pin sharp. Lovely eye relief and not only weighty , but well finished . Going to be ace on clusters .
On Sol at x21 gave a clear view of proms and filaments . Useful and a change from the usual 25mm eps.lovely and sharp across the disc.
An ideal way to upgrade from supplied eps and a very fine bit of glass .
