Causes too high a voltage drop 26 July 2023 | Steven
I bought two of these along with the Lynx Astro 12v 5a mains adapters to power my mount and ASIair while at home because the connection leads on the adapters are slightly too short and I don’t like dangling boxes. Tried them for the first time last night. While trying to auto-focus my ASIair plus kept dropping its WiFi signal, refusing to connect and also failing to restart when I rebooted the unit. Strange thing is that when I brought my scope back in, everything seemed to work fine.
While troubleshooting again this morning I noticed that the ASIair was showing an input voltage of only 10.8v. When I removed the extension wire it reported 11.9v. The same thing happened with the other wire. This one volt drop is enough to upset the ASIair so I won’t be using them again. They might work better in other circumstances, but not as extensions for the Lynx Astro mains adapters.
