Wil Tirion
Wil Tirion is a full-time uranographer. He has always had an interest in astronomy, and especially star charts, and has contributed to many atlases, books and magazines in astronomy. In recognition for his work the minor planet, 4648 Tirion (1931 UE), is named after him.

A decent overview of the night sky. Perhaps not as detailed as the authors other (2000 genre) atlases, but it’s a fantastic introduction into learning the night sky. The ringed binder allows easy page turns, both in the home and in the field. Glad that I bought this, and I’m now looking at the author’s other sky atlases.

This came well packaged in a book specific cardboard box inside one of the DHL boxes, along with some eyepieces and filters, all good therefrom FLO.
The Atlas itself is wonderful and packed with a lot more information than expected and is far from being just lists of star co-ordinates, I have really enjoyed looking through it but, so far have only brushed the surface of all that it contains. I'm sure that it will be a big help for a newbie like me!
One star omitted as my edition came with the cover on back to front and upside down, had me scratching my head for a while but no big deal. One long wet and rainy night I will undo the spiral binding and flip the cover over.

The Cambridge Star Atlas gives an extensive tour of the northern and southern skies by season, the Messier Objects, and a comprehensive set of twenty double-page star charts and tables, packed full of detailed information. I'm a beginner and have bought the atlas to learn the night skies and familiarise myself with some of the main stars and their constellations. I suspect the atlas will serve well those who are experienced astronomers and well as the beginner. If there is one thing I would change it is that the colour of the text on the seasonal maps would be better if white (as it is on the introductory pages) - making it white instead of black would dramatically improve readability, especially in the dusk.
