FLO says

"This affordable wooden tripod is sturdy and provides the usual benefits of wood: warm to the touch and excellent vibration suppression.

The fit & finish is not equal to a German-made Berlebach tripod (a Berlebach with similar specifications costs considerably more).

The North pin can be removed (five screws).

A good alternative to regular aluminium or steel tripods."

About this product

Model:  stellalyra_tripod_wd

StellaLyra Wooden Tripod with M10 Adapter

This surveyor-style tripod is made from ash wood, so it is warm to the touch (unlike metal tripods) and has very good vibration-suppressing characteristics.

It is designed to accept mounts with an M10 mounting thread and works especially well with the StellaLyra Dual Alt-Azimuth Mount.

Also works well with Sky-Watcher EQ5 / EQ5-Pro mounts.

Features include a tripod spreader and extendable legs.

Minimum Tripod Height (Legs retracted): 89 cm

Maximum tripod Height: (Legs extended): 138 cm

Weight: 6.5 kg

Please Note: The Azimuth Pin can be removed. Please follow the Instructions below.

  • Remove red arrowed bolts to remove legs (may be able to skip this step but it's quite awkward to get to the other bolts)
  • Remove green arrowed bolts to remove puck
  • Remove 2 x bolts attached to the pin
  • Reassemble

When I saw the price I presumed it would be functional at best. It turns out that it is well built, decently finished and punches above its weight for the price. It is nice to see something reasonably priced, but well-made. The only downside is hardware that is very basic and not the equivalent Tripod which admittedly cost twice as much.
