NEW Astro Essentials 4 Port Dew Controller

Designed and manufactured in the UK.

Four-channel, four-port dew controller enables you to connect and control output to four individual heater strips (not included). Most heater strips from all major manufacturers are supported via regular phono / RCA type sockets.

Total power output up to 8 Amps. (Please ensure your power supply can deliver sufficient power for your requirements, keeping in mind other equipment such as your mount and cameras also require power).

A cigarette-lighter type plug with an 8 Amp fuse and 2m of premium quality, super flexible, cold resistant silicone cable are included.

Requires a DC centre positive power supply.

2-year warranty. 

Important: Do not exceed a total power output of 8 Amps.

Specifications

Power Input

  • Requires a DC centre positive power supply.
  • 2 metre flexible silicone cable rated to 15 Amps.
  • The cigarette-lighter type plug is rated to 15 Amps and fitted with an 8 Amps fuse. It also includes a red LED power indicator.
  • Minimum Voltage 10V, maximum Voltage 15V (we recommend 12-13.8V).
  • Fitted with strain relief to prevent damage.

Dew Heater Outputs

  • RCA / Phono style connector, tip positive.
  • Suitable for use with most dew heater tapes from major manufacturers.
  • 2.5 Amps output continuous per channel (max 3 Amps surge). Do not exceed the total device Amp rating.

Enclosure / Box

  • Hard-wearing, durable, black ABS enclosure.
  • Red LED power indicator for each heating channel - brightness varies depending on the power setting.
  • Red LED intensities are reduced to maintain dark adaption.
  • Velcro backed with matching sticky velcro pad for easy attachment to your mount/pier/tripod/dovetail/etc.
  • High-quality plastic knobs and all-metal potentiometers for durability and smoothness.

Power Supply Requirements

You will need to plug the cigarette plug into a centre-positive power supply capable of supplying between 10-15V, ideally 12-13.8V.

Important: The power supply must have the correct centre positive polarity and be capable of supplying the required Current (Amps) and Voltage. If you are unsure, please contact us for advice.

Determine the Amps required for each item plugged into the dew controller. When added together, their total must not exceed 8 Amps. If this information is unavailable, please contact your device manufacturer.

Well made product, good quality thick silicone cable and nice tactile knobs per channel. The only improvement I would suggest is numbering the channels and knobs so it’s clear which channel is adjusted by each knob.

I purchased this controller for my Sky-Watcher 127 Mak, together with an AstroZap heated dew shield (for 127mm dia scopes), as my Mak's front corrector plate seems like a "dew magnet" (I guess it happens with everyone). Other manufacturer's dew controllers have been unavailable in the market for a long a time now, so this new arrival at FLO was really welcome. The controller is very well made and the knobs are nice and smooth. Each of the 4 channels has an independent red led that powers up when each channel is activated. Led intensity changes according to the power level output. The connector silicone cable is nice, soft and flexible. To ease setting up, the controller has velcro attachments. Warm up time is very quick, less than 10 minutes. Service from FLO was excelent and fast, as usual. Highly recommended.
