NEW Sky-Watcher EQ-AL55i PRO Go-To Astronomy Mount with built-in WiFi and 1.75" Diameter Stainless Steel Tripod

The EQ-AL55i PRO is a compact and versatile mount with a dual-position counterweight bar, making it suitable for use at ALL latitudes from 0-90 degrees. This makes it an excellent choice for someone living in or travelling to areas of extreme latitudes that are beyond the capability of most conventional mounts.

The mount has built-in WiFi, so you can control it using a smart device with Sky-Watcher's free Synscan Pro App for iOS or Android.

Other features include an integrated illuminated polar scope for precise alignment and interfaces for USB-C, autoguider and the optional SynScan hand controller. It also has a SNAP shutter control function for your DSLR (programmable via Sky-Watcher’s free SynScan Pro app for iOS and Android).

The EQ-AL55i PRO has a 10kg payload capacity and accepts a wide range of OTAs and peripheral equipment via its 45mm dovetail saddle.

This highly portable mount is a good choice for astrophotographers or visual observers.

First Use of AL55i

Just bought - worked flawlessly with Asiair mini through USB and Eqmod - PA easy - small refractor. Bit grindy and the best i could get with ZWO 120mm/ASI120mm guide setup was around 1 arcsec total in PHD2. Perhaps room for experimenting here. Otherwise great mount for the money, good payload and portable.

Sky-Watcher eq55i pro mount

Well so far 1 star as having problems keeping it connected with my ASIair plus but to be fair it could be the other way so until resolved I’m not impressed especially when spending a lot of money!!

Response:

This new mount from Sky-Watcher is compatible with thier own tried and tested SynScan technology, so there is no issue controlling it. Manufacturers of 3rd party devices might however need time to update their software for full compatibility. This is often the case when a new mount is launched.
