This convenient FTDI EQDIR adapter allows direct connection of a Sky-Watcher AZ-GTi Mount to your laptop.
Compatible with Windows XP, 7, 8 & 10, Linux, Mac OSX 10.3 and above.
The EQMOD project consists of a suite of open source applications that bypasses the hand-controller and communicates directly with the mount's stepper motor controller.

Works but needed modification. Wednesday, 30 March 2022 | Roger
Although the cable works the plastic strain relief on the rj12 end needed trimming in order for it to fit into the socket of the AZ GTI.Once cut back with a very sharp craft Knife it fitted. Quality control from Lynx needs to check if the item fits.
Response:
Sorry about this - we recently started adding some additional strain relief to these but need to tweak the length slightly to ensure it suits all sockets. This has already been fixed in our production department ongoing.

Lynx Astro FTDI EQDIR USB Adapter for Sky-Watcher AZ, GTi Mounts Wednesday, 17 November 2021 | Peter
Bought this Adapter on advice from a friend who has the same equipment as me and has experienced the same wi-fi problems. So acting on their advice bought this from FLO and am reasonably happy with both the product and to a lesser extent the lack of notification and delivery time.
Nevertheless the adapter seems to resolve the wi-fi stability and I’m now able to slew my scope so as to use the SynScan program.

I already had a Lynx Astro EQDIR cable for my NEQ6, but bought this one to use with an AZ-GTi mount and the new dual AZ-EQ firmware. Being familiar with the whole setup, I expected this cable to work flawlessly, which in the end it did but not after a few issues unrelated to the cable. I was seeing erratic mount behaviour and disconnections/stalling which basically boiled down to communications errors between the laptop and the mount . After trying all sorts of things, different computers, different comms settings, re-installing EQMOD and ASCOM, etc. nothing worked.
Eventually I tried running the AZ-GTi on batteries and everything worked fine. I think the power supply (which had previously worked fine with the NEQ6) was causing interference. It might be that the power supply was getting old, or that the AZ-GTi is more susceptible to interference. I bought a replacement power supply from FLO and everything is not working great. Can't fault FLO's customer service as they worked to try and resolve my problem so thanks!

I bought this cable to connect my laptop to my AzGti mount as I usually do this wirelessly but wanted a wired connection for my peace of mind whilst guiding, not used it in anger yet due to clouds but tested it indoors and does what it says on the tin, a great quality reliable cable
Excellent service and product Monday, 17 May 2021 | Christophe
Great service provided by FLO, fast shipping and product was well packed. The cable works perfectly, many thanks guys!
Perfect for connecting AZGTi (EQ mode) to ASIAIR PRO Sunday, 4 April 2021 | Mark
I placed this order on FLO on a Sunday evening (from California) and it was delivered by DHL on Thursday afternoon! This cable works great for connecting my AZGTi (in EQ mode) to my ASIAIR PRO and it is so much easier than trying to connect wirelessly. It also allows me to run ASIAIR PRO in 5GHz instead of the 2.4 GHz limit with wireless.
GREAT service from FLO and DHL

I order this cable for the future in EQ but I haven't received my wedge. So I tested in AZ with Synscan and it's work
Quick delivery but cable didn’t work for me. Saturday, 13 February 2021 | Graham
Excellent service as usual from FLO. Ordered the cable yesterday and it arrived today.
I bought this cable to try and update my AZGTi as it’s stuck in firmware mode and a review on here suggested the cable worked for them with their AZGTi.
I had to download drivers even though laptop is WIN 10. In Device manager the cable is displayed and says is connected and working. However when I connect it direct to the AZGTi mount, it stil won’t update firmware and either fails after a small percentage or says cannot connect to motor controller. It detects the correct COM port but having spent two hours trying to update, I’ve given up trying. The AZGTi will now have to be consigned to the bin. Very disappointed in Skywatcher products as this is the second item that has failed within last two weeks (other was my EQ3-2 synscan which appears to be the motherboard.
Skywatcher firmware updates seem to not like new technology e.g.USB. 3 and WIndows 10. And their WiFi products are very flaky (my synscan dongle constantly fails to be detected by the synscan app). For a company that charges a premium for its products, their support is non existent (Skywatcher not FLO I hasten to add).
Very frustrated at the time, effort and money I’ve wasted!
I’m sure the cable works as designed so feel free to purchase but not to use for updating firmware.
The Cable that Skywatcher Should Have Included... Thursday, 11 February 2021 | Olly
I decided to update the firmware on my fully-functioning AZ GTI Mount to make it dual AZ ALT/EQ capable. After doing so I was left with the mount stuck in update mode (3 flashing lights) which rendered it useless. I didn’t want to buy a Skywatcher WiFi Dongle to fix this as it is expensive and the unit has WiFi on board already, when it’s working.. I contacted FLO who recommended using the Lynx Astro FTDI EQDIR USB Adapter for Sky-Watcher AZ, GTi Mounts. This is a great solution as it allows you to bypass the ‘stuck’ inbuilt WiFi and update the firmware. It is also much cheaper than the Dongle. It worked first time and now I have a cable that allows me to connect directly to the AZ GTI to use SynScan Pro from my laptop. Additionally, this cable can be used with an ASIAIR Pro or directly with other SynScan mounts. Throughout this process FLO were absolutely brilliant and guided me through the process, nothing was too much trouble for them. My AZ GTI is working fine now that I’ve got the cable that Skywatcher should have included!
