Sky-Watcher's AZ-GTi Wi-Fi Alt-Azimuth mount features a built-in WiFi module, enabling it to to be controlled wirelessly via your Smartphone or Tablet using Sky-Watcher's free SynScan App for iOS or Android.
Together the mount and App provide full computerised GO-TO.
It also features Sky-Watcher’s Freedom-Find™ patented dual-encoder technology so your telescope can be moved manually in either axis without the mount losing its positional information - which is rather convenient :-)
The mount is quiet in operation, has a payload capacity of up to 5kg and accepts telescopes via a regular 45mm dovetail bar.
Tripod option includes adjustable aluminium tripod with accessory tray, will also fit to other suitable photo-tripods via standard 3/8" screw fitting
I am using this mount with my Borg107FL and it handles the 600mm focal length scope easily producing nice stable views. I am using the stronger Skywatcher steel tripod (purchased separately) which increases the stability. I am also using a SynScan v4 handset with the mount and the combo is working well. The mount is tiny so is also easy to take on your travels.
I received the Sky-Watcher AZ GTi WiFi shortly after ordering it online excellent service from FLO , attached it to the tripod had it up and running in no time, I used star level north on the free skywatcher app and it got me straight to the ring nebulae, M13 and the dumbbell nebulae no problem. Any deep sky object was in my grasp, I found it lightweight which was what I was looking for. This purchase and the prompt service from FLO really does deserve the 5 star rating Thank you
Great service as always from FLO. Now just a matter of waiting for a clear night!
I bought this mount to take abroad for solar imaging as my Merlin mount stripped a gear (now repaired). The AZ GTi is much lighter than my Merlin mount and using it with an iPhone there is no need for a handset controller. The mount is well made, compact and looks to be stable (I haven't had a scope on it yet). The iPhone app, looks basic, but actually does everything you need very well. The time and position is automatically set by the iPhone and it lists objects which are visible from your location. Most important for a solar imager, it has the sun in it's database. If you are looking for a feature packed very compact mount for travelling abroad, this ticks all of the boxes.
For a small scope mount I think this is excellent value for a good mount. A big improvement on the old Skywatcher AZ mount. Im a visual astronomer in the main and I find the mount stable (used with the leg extensions retracted and an extra pier extension fitted. The WiFi app is easy to use and nurses you through setup and alignment.Goto function is good with the target stars in the middle 1/3 of a 12.5mm EP on my Mac 127.A very pleasant mount for beginners and more experienced observers , as a quick setup grab and go mount it will be good. Very pleased. Thanks FLO for your usual excellent service
Not officially but we have found the counterweight bar from the EQ1 mount does fit. HTH
