Model: iop_skyguider_proPart Number: 3550
Features include all-metal structure, 5kg payload, near silent tracking, illuminated polarscope (also compatible with iOptron iPolar) and an integrated Lithium-Ion Polymer rechargeable battery.
Small enough to fit in the palm of your hand yet offers high precision tracking.
The polar scope has been improved with a fine engraved reticule and adjustable illumination. Using iOptron's iOS app, quick and accurate polar alignment is a breeze.
Other features include an ST-4 guiding port and camera trigger port.
Supplied with a DEC mounting bracket, counterweight shaft and counterweight that enables you to more easily balance a heavy camera and lens or a compact refractor telescope (does not obstruct the polarscope).
The optional iOptron 8408 hand controller enables you to check the Pole Star position for polar alignment, slew the mount, adjust the guiding rate, change the mount settings and control the camera trigger.
The SkyGuider Pro features four tracking rates, 1x or sidereal, 1/2x for sky and landscape combined, solar and lunar. All four work in both northern and southern hemispheres. IOptron have also added a quick slew mode with both forward and reverse to help you quickly reframe your image without disrupting the cameras position.
Significant improvements have been made to the removable alt-azimuth base, which features a convenient bubble level, degree markings for altitude and a built in post for azimuth control. You can also mount the SkyGuider Pro head (without the base) directly to any standard photographic tripod with 1/4” or 3/8” threads.

Very new to astrophotography and following hours of YouTube reviews, I went for this over the Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer. (it's well worth watching Peter Zelinka's tutorial)Although I've only used it once as it's been cloudy EVERY night since receiving it two weeks ago, it's simple to set up and easy to use with DSLR and 135mm lens.Fantastic delivery from FLO in well under 48 hours, will definitely be ordering from them again in the future.
Never having set a tracking mount up before I was surprised at how easy it was once I had polaris in the sights. Tracked Andromeda with a 400 mm lens on camera for two hours without having to realign at all. Excellent piece of kit for tracking with a camera. Can't comment on how it would function with a heavy telescope.
We bought the iOptron SkyGuider Pro as part of a portable rig that included the William Optics RedCat v1.5, the ZWO ASIair Pro, iOptron Ball Head, iOptron tripod and the ZWO mini Finder guider and ASI120mm - mini bundle and ZWO ASIair Pro. We ordered all at the same time but were aware that some had a longer lead time than others. Throughout FLO were brilliant at keeping us informed and shipped some items earlier than agreed because we were still waiting for the tripod. Previously we have only used a GoTo Celestron 8SE so getting used to the small rig has required some effort but there are some great YouTube videos out there to help and we now we feel we can write a review of the components. This is a great solid little tracker. The battery lasts well and it performs well with our heavyish rig using all of the new items and a Canon 80D. However, we have needed to purchase the William Optics extension to balance it all with the counterweight. It appears to work well with the guide scope but we haven't used this a lot. It performs great with the ball head and camera mounting disk. Just one small niggle has been that the charging cable appears to work only intermittently. When adjusting the light on the eyepiece to polar align it can be fiddly to switch back from Southern Hemisphere to Northern hemisphere. As a beginners we think it would be difficult to get an accurate Polar alignment without the use of the ZWO ASIair polar align. Adjusting the Alt-Az mount is awkward but is holding up for now. There is an alternative base available from William Optics but this is quite expensive, however, this actually comes with the extension bar so it might be worth thinking about this extra expense if you are going to be using this tracker with the Redcat.https://www.firstlightoptics.com/william-optics-mounts/william-optics-wedge-and-extension-bar-for-skywatcher-star-adventurer-and-ioptron-skyguider-pro.html.
This review is based on owning the device for a couple of weeks. Build quality can't be faulted, it's quite sturdy. But there are a few niggles, the biggest by far is keeping the unit on the 'Northern Hemisphere', a toggle button would be infinitely more easy than trying to press a button for a difficult to determine length of time. Another mild inconvenience is alignment. You get your tripod level and then screw on the unit only to find it at 90 degrees to where you want so you have to move the whole thing and then it's not level! A rotating base would be a great addition rather than have to source a swivel base later. And lastly, if you increase the light on the reticle display, it's tonight to see Polaris! But, once you get past these niggles the unit performed well, four five minute exposures lined up perfectly. Finally, a dslr plus long lens is too heavy for the counter-balance, you will need extra weight and or an extension rod. So 4.5 stars from me, just need clear nights now!
New to Astro Photography I am just using a Canon SLR and lens at the momentFirst try with a tracker very solid comes complete and seems to work well but I still have to really get to grips with it not had one really clear night since buyingI looked at a number of reviews between this and the Star adventurer, as usual you cannot get one with all the option you want, however, this seems to come out in the reviews as goodthe only thing so far I don't like but have found a solution is the polar align as I am in North Scotland I have to get on my knees (nearly but its awkward) to look through the scope even with the tripod on max height However, I found a company that 3d prints an adapter for a 90 degree eyepiece only arrived today and it all cloudy so will try it out, but it sorts that issuejust discovered this is an a expensive hobby 😀😀
A good solid unit.Rapid delivery
Skyguider Pro came in perfect shape across the pond. Shipped and delivered internationally within 24 hours. I don't even get that kind of service from B&H and I live in New York. Will be utilizing FLO more often going forward.
These guys would go to the moon and back to ensure you are happy with your purchase. I am really pleased with the customer service from this company and would highly recommend them.
Ordered from FLO, arrived the next day and the following day had a sufficiently clear night to use it. Studied set up from the excellent video tutorial by Peter Zelinka, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jssf2ffHYbc. Link also available from iOptron website. First use went well and did exactly what it was supposed to do. There is a wide variety of setup options and the kit contains all you need. At some point I will test with the counter weight and telescopic lens, hopefully before end of UK summer, but clear nights are few and far between at present. The build quality seems excellent, very solid, but compact enough for easy transportation. I had some difficulty getting the scope aligned with Polaris, but that was me rather than the kit, and will improve with practice (I'm new to astrophotography). Very impressed so far, and very impressed with the service from FLO.
